Understanding the financial constraints faced by many students and the significance of the matric farewell, the television production took it upon themselves to make a difference in the lives of these young individuals. Their gesture will not only alleviate the financial burden, but it will promote inclusivity and provide an opportunity for the beneficiaries to feel confident and celebrated on their special day.

Gomora cast members Sicelo Buthelezi (Teddy), Nandipha Khubone (Sibongile), Nondumiso Tshabalala (Zaza), Lerato Mokoka (Tshiamo), Sizwe Kubeka (Tumelo), and Florence Mokgatsi (DJ Ora) were in attendance, and spent some time with the matriculants and shared some words of encouragement with them.

“I am telling you that your time will come, and your things will happen, so keep drafting and pushing your dreams. That’s why we are here today to encourage you to keep pushing and also have friends who are pioneers in your life, friends who will push you in the right direction. Thank you so much for coming here and listening to us, one last piece of advice, do not fall pregnant,” Khubone said.

As the matric farewell marks the end of high school and the beginning of a new chapter, it holds great importance to the learners. It is a night filled with glamour, excitement and memories that will last a lifetime. However, for many learners, the cost associated with purchasing dresses or suits can be overwhelming, preventing them from fully enjoying this celebratory event.

“I am very happy and excited that the Gomora cast has visited us today to donate these dresses and suits, they will make a difference to some of us who do not afford them but want to go to the matric farewell. At least it will ease one financial burden as the preparation of the ball cost a lot of money for our parents,” said one of the learners Lebogang Sedibeng.
