Old age home residents are clean-shaven

The Together Mzansi community initiative along with the Mobile Barbers ensures residents at Andries Meyer Old Age Home are clean-shaven.

The Andries Meyer Old Age Home’s residents recently received fabulous haircuts thanks to McDonald’s South Africa and its partnership with Mobile Barbers to ensure the elderly are clean-shaven.
McDonald’s ‘Together Mzansi’ community initiative team and Mobile Barbers visited the home to provide free haircuts to the residents as part of the ‘Mobile Barber’ service aimed at giving back to the communities within the company’s footprint.Speaking at the barbing event, McDonald’s South Africa’s chief marketing officer Daniel Padiachy said the company believes in more than just serving delicious moments of love to customers.

“We are dedicated to supporting and empowering our communities through initiatives focused on literacy, education, sustainability, and social impact,” he said, adding that providing free haircuts to the elderly residents of the home was a show of respect, dignity, and care to those who are often overlooked.

Close to 100 of the home’s residents received free haircuts and one of them, Albert Maphosa was so delighted with his fresh look. “The project brings the elderly immense joy and a sense of renewal. Who doesn’t love the feeling of having their hair done?” he asked.
