Radio station METRO FM embraces a multi-channel evolution

METRO FM's expansion into podcasts and digital platforms sets the stage for an enhanced listening experience, allowing their audience to find them, ‘Whenever, wherever, and however they choose’.

METRO FM is embarking on a transformative journey into the realm of multi-channel broadcasting.

From October, the station will expand beyond traditional radio programming, introducing a variety of platforms designed to connect with audiences; ‘Whenever, wherever, and however they choose’.

As part of this ambitious evolution, the station is set to launch its exclusive podcast channel, METRO FM Off-Air.

The inaugural episode titled: A Legacy Unfolded, invites listeners to explore the station’s profound impact on South Africa’s urban radio scene.

This podcast promises to deliver a compelling mix of behind-the-scenes stories and insightful interviews, chronicling crucial milestones and the influential personalities who have shaped the station’s success.

The station’s business manager, Kina Nhlengethwa, expressed enthusiasm for this new chapter.

“Our multi-channel platform ensures that our audience can engage with us whenever, wherever, and however they choose. We’re committed to delivering diverse, entertaining, and informative content that resonates with South Africans,” Nhlengethwa said.

The debut episode celebrates the station’s remarkable trajectory, from its humble beginnings to becoming a major player in media.

The station’s programmes manager, Siyanda Fikelephi, said with engaging anecdotes and a deep dive into the station’s ground-breaking moments, listeners can expect a rich tapestry of the station’s history.

“By sharing its storied past, the station highlights its commitment to delivering diverse, engaging content that resonates with audiences and shapes cultural and musical trends,” Fikelephi added.

Beyond the podcast, the station is enhancing its digital footprint through the launch of the METRO FM App, designed to provide seamless access to content and a more convenient listening experience.

The station’s revamped website will feature interactive elements aimed at fostering a deeper connection with its audience.
