Lecweleng, who describes radio as ‘theatre of the mind’, believes in its unique ability to connect personally with listeners. “In an age dominated by digital media, radio’s analogue charm and accessibility ensure its continued relevance,” he said.
His career began at Motheo FM from 2011 to 2014 as a sports anchor. He then joined Sosha FM from 2014 to 2019, hosting Lover Corner, a popular Sunday night show focused on relationships and reconciliation. “The show’s popularity showed my ability to engage with listeners on a deeply personal level,” he explained.
While versatile, Lecweleng, also known as Principal of the Airwaves, is most passionate about sports commentating, where his deep understanding and articulation skills create compelling broadcasts. He later hosted current affairs and sports shows on Cosmo FM, eventually hosting the breakfast and afternoon drive shows from 2021 to 2023.

Since joining Alex FM in April last year, first as a sports presenter and now as a sports reporter of the morning breakfast show since July 2024, Lecweleng provides listeners with news, sports, and engaging conversation daily.
He credits his late grandmother for his early love of radio. “I grew up as a village boy in Taung. My late grandmother used to listen to the radio… she listened to political news and the release of Nelson Mandela. So that was when the love for radio was installed in me.”
Lecweleng has conducted exclusive interviews with figures such as Muade Khumalo, Ephraim Mashaba, Pitso Mosimane, and Herman Mashaba.
His advice to aspiring radio professionals is: “To those inspiring to be radio personnel, you must learn to have wisdom, knowledge, and patience to make it, because if you do something without passion you will fail.”
