Young innovators converge at Sandton for UN Global Compact conference

Led by insightful keynote speakers and dynamic workshops, the Young Professionals, Business and Innovation Conference inspired a new generation to drive impactful change, spotlighting the role of youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The bustling business hub of Sandton was alive with the energy of young professionals gathered for the highly anticipated Young Professionals, Business and Innovation Conference, hosted by the UN Global Compact Network South Africa (GCNSA) and sponsored by Alexforbes.

With the theme on February 28, Where are we now?, the conference provided a platform for more than 100 young leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators to reflect on their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while forging connections that may lead to transformative change in the business landscape.

The audience was captivated by keynote addresses and panel discussions led by industry leaders and accomplished social entrepreneurs, each sharing insights on how innovation and sustainability are intertwined in the quest for a better future.

Attendees participated in interactive workshops that focused on developing skills and strategies to implement sustainable business practices effectively.

GCNSA executive director Achieng Ojwang emphasised the conference’s goal of empowering the next generation of change-makers. “By exploring the intersection of business and sustainability, the event aims to empower businesses and young professionals to become key drivers of meaningful change in today’s rapidly evolving world.
