Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Oupa ‘DJ Sumbody’ Sefoka, is set to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court this morning for his bail application.

Molefe and his three co-accused, Michael Pule Tau, Musa Kekana, and Tiego Flyod Mabusela, face charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as ammunition.

The charges stem from the fatal shooting of DJ Sumbody and his bodyguards, Sibusiso Mokoena and Sandile Myeza, in Woodmead, Johannesburg, in November 2022.

After an extensive investigation by the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit and the SAPS Political Killings Task Team, the police arrested the four suspects on July 21 this year, and formal charges were laid the following day.

Molefe is believed to have orchestrated the killings, while Tau, Kekana, and Mabusela are accused of acting as the hitmen.

During earlier proceedings on July 22, the three alleged hitmen opted not to apply for bail. They are remanded in custody until their next appearance on September 18.
