Alex Arsenal City FC finally has its day with DC

Alex Arsenal City FC will finally have its day with the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association's Disciplinary Committee tomorrow (June 7).

Alex Arsenal City FC which has been in the dog box with the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association will finally have its day with the Disciplinary Committee tomorrow (June 7).

The reason why they are in the LFA’s bad books is because of a fistfight between two of its players during a game more than two months ago.

This was confirmed by Alex Northrand LFA secretary general Malvin Khumalo who said the DC was scheduled to sit tomorrow to hear several matters, including the side of the story from Arsenal.

Arsenal’s day with the DC follows the commotion which erupted among its players during the LFA Promotional League game against Amajananda FC at the Totalsports Alex SafeHub on April 1 which led to the abandonment of the game as the referee feared for the safety of all those at the stadium.

Although Arsenal has owned up to the chaos, Khumalo said the due process of disciplinary action still had to take its course so the LFA got to know the facts of what transpired and could take appropriate action.

Khumalo told Alex News the DC had a plateful of matters to deal with as the Arsenal matter was but one of many other matters that have already been referred to it for adjudication.

The Arsenal incident occurred soon after the referee blew his whistle for half-time and then the two players exchanged blows on the pitch. This prompted the referee to red-card both players. One of them left the field, threatening that he was going to mobilise a mob which left the referee with no option but to abandon the game in fear for the safety of everyone at the match.

When the match was called off, Amajananda was leading 3–1. Amajananda has returned to the league after they were relegated from the Johannesburg Men’s Regional League in its maiden season last year.
