The Matric Dance Drive was not just a project but a mission founded on the belief that no young person should be left behind.

I am proud to share that we successfully supported 17 learners from Realogile High School, East Bank High School and Alexandra High School, allowing them to attend their matric dances with dignity and confidence.

Matric Dance Drive organiser Kamohelo Skhosana thanks all the sponsors, donors, and volunteers who contributed to the drive’s success and made her dream of helping children in Alexandra come true.

Not just because of the clothes they wore but because of the confidence, hope, and belief that we gave them. This event was a celebration of their hard work, but it was also a reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported by an entire community who believes in their potential.

Our collective efforts raised R7 250 but the initiative’s success was so much more than a financial figure; it was a victory for community spirit and solidarity.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our generous donors, sponsors and tireless volunteers. Special recognition goes to Redemption Church and Bowmans, along with our media partners, Alex News and Alex FM, who amplified our message and helped rally support.

The dedication of our volunteers, including local beauticians and stylists, brought joy and beauty to the learners’ special night, ensuring they felt valued and celebrated.

Also Reneiloe Bopape from Thee Pheletso Hub, Fezekile Msimang, our brilliant photographer who captured the joy and pride of these young people so beautifully and Theo Lengwati, who led the logistics with tireless dedication and was my greatest supporter, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with me in the suit drive for the boys.

The Matric Dance Drive has become a remarkable reminder that our community is not only strong but compassionate and determined to uplift our youth. This initiative is just the beginning of a broader mission to empower young people in our community with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

Matric Dance Dress organiser Kamohelo Skhosana and her assistant Theo Lengwati assisted with the boys suit drive.

As we look forward to next year’s event and additional projects aimed at further assisting our youth, I invite everyone to join us on this journey. Together, we can transform lives and foster an environment where every child knows they are seen, valued, and supported.

Thank you once again for your support and belief in our mission.
