Ensuring a safe and joyous festive season in Alexandra

As the festive season unfolds, Alexandra Police Station commander Vusumuzi Ngubane emphasises vigilance and community co-operation to combat potential crime, and ensure a secure environment for all.

As the community of Alexandra gears up to celebrate the festive season, safety remains a top priority for residents and law enforcement alike.

Alexandra SAPS station commander Vusumuzi Ngubane has issued a series of crucial safety reminders aimed at keeping the community safe during this joyous time of year.

“While we embrace the spirit of celebration, it’s vital that we remain alert to potential dangers. Together, we can foster an environment where everyone enjoys the festivities without fear,” Ngubane said.

The following safety reminders are key for residents during the holidays:

• Carjackings and kidnapping: Be cautious when driving, especially at night. Avoid stopping in isolated areas.
• Bank app scams: Be wary of suspicious messages or calls asking for financial information.
• Abuse of liquor: Drink responsibly, and never drink and drive.
• Assaults and murders: Avoid confrontations, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
• Armed robberies: Be mindful of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas.

In addition to these reminders, Ngubane pointed out the responsibilities of liquor outlets in the area.

“It is imperative that all liquor outlets comply with the Gauteng Liquor Act. This means closing on time and refraining from selling alcohol to minors. Non-compliance will result in stringent action,” he warned.

“As we embark on this festive journey, let us come together as a community to look out for one another. It’s not just the police’s responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in ensuring our community is safe.

“Wishing the Alexandra community a safe, happy, and harmonious festive season! Together, let’s make this celebration memorable for all the right reasons,” Ngubane concluded.
