The authorities remind the public of the importance of verifying information before sharing or acting on it. Misinformation can be dangerous, leading to unnecessary panic and confusion. A quick online search reveals that most of these false articles originate from sites in India, and no reputable South African news outlets have published any reports on proposed highway law changes by Sanral. Additionally, Sanral’s official website contains no such announcements.
The JOC urges all residents to exercise caution, stay informed through official channels, and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary alarm.
