Alexandra High receives crucial support from MK party

When the MK Party stepped in with a donation of 145 chairs, principal Mzamani Chauke said the gesture was more than just furniture; it was a reminder that the community stands behind both learners and teachers.

Alexandra High School recently welcomed the delivery of 145 tables from uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party to assist matric learners.
With the school accommodating more than twice its intended capacity, the gesture arrived at a critical moment.

Principal Mzamani Chauke described the support as deeply moving. He reflected that the presence of a caring community gave him strength and reassurance, and that such acts of kindness reinforced his determination not to let anyone down. For him, the donation was more than practical; it was a message to learners to focus on their future and rise to the responsibility before them. He stressed that teachers, too, should feel encouraged, knowing they are not alone and that the community stands firmly behind them.

School governing body member Alima Mbewe shared similar sentiments, noting that the school is grateful for the effort. She said the collaboration among everyone demonstrated unity of purpose. “I don’t have a lot of words, but we are grateful as the parents of these learners. Some of you who have been doing this work are parents yourselves. So, it goes to show that we are one at heart, and when we are one at heart, work is successfully undertaken.”

MK Party member of the Gauteng provincial legislature Bafana Mahlabe said the initiative reflected their commitment to securing the future of the next generation of leaders. He explained that the donation was intended to address challenges learners face, ensuring they study in an environment that supports concentration and performance. He added that the recent drop in matric results, to 78%, made such interventions even more important, helping learners refocus and improve. Mahlabe noted that learners were now able to concentrate better, write more effectively, and perform with greater confidence, and he expressed appreciation for the outcome.
