Imbumba Dance Group calls for help as they prepare for Global Dance Supreme Finals in Thailand
Young performers from township communities launch a R200 000 funding appeal to cover travel and competition costs for the prestigious international event.
Imbumba Dance Group has earned a place at the Global Dance Supreme Finals in Thailand through discipline, sacrifice, and relentless passion.
For many of its members from township communities, this chance is rare, yet the troupe now stands alongside some of the world’s finest talent. The milestone brings pride to the organisation, its communities, and every young person who dares to dream beyond their circumstances.
Founded to harness dance for empowerment, social cohesion, and youth development, the group creates a safe, inspiring space where participants gain purpose, confidence, and belonging through movement, mentorship, and performance.

Many dancers come from disadvantaged backgrounds with limited access to arts opportunities, yet they continue to rise with courage, excellence, and resilience.
The journey promises to display creativity, culture, and talent on the global stage, while offering a life-changing educational and cultural experience.
Dancers will encounter international performance standards, cultural exchange, and professional growth opportunities that can shape their futures.
To turn the dream into reality, the group needs R200 000 for international flights, accommodation, meals and catering, ground transport, competition registration fees, costumes, rehearsal preparation, travel insurance, and related logistics.

An appeal has gone out to foundations, corporate partners, sponsors, and compassionate individuals for financial contributions, sponsorships, or in-kind assistance.
No gift is too small. Every act of support invests in youth development, cultural exchange, artistic excellence, and the power of the performing arts.
Contributors will be acknowledged across communication platforms, performances, and media engagements where appropriate.
The organisation also welcomes collaborative partnerships that match social investment and youth empowerment goals.
