A minibus taxi allegedly collided with multiple vehicles before coming to a halt on 13th Avenue.
A three-week-old infant, a three-year-old child, and a pregnant woman were among those involved in a multi-vehicle accident along Alfred Nzo Street in Alexandra on July 15.
Reports indicate that a white minibus taxi collided with multiple vehicles travelling along the street on Wednesday night, leaving an unconfirmed number of people injured.

Alex News observed at least four damaged vehicles, including the minibus taxi, at the accident scene, which stretched from 11th Avenue to 13th Avenue.

Genuine Bhiza, a driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident, said he was travelling with his partner and their two children, a three-year-old boy and a three-week-old infant.
“I was driving from the top going down, and then the taxi came from the back. So, when I saw him coming from the back, I tried to drive away, but he was closer, and he was speeding,” he said.

He explained that he couldn’t find enough space to get out of the way as there were cars in front of him, and he was hit.
Although his vehicle was damaged in the front and his windshield cracked due to the impact, he said he, his partner, and the infant did not sustain serious injuries.
His three-year-old son, however, was injured and taken for medical assistance.
“Unfortunately, the three-year-old was the one who was badly injured…”
The two occupants of another vehicle, which was allegedly hit from behind and crashed into a rock on 13th Avenue, also sustained injuries, according to their family member, Mafika Morajane.
Morajane said the occupants, a man and a woman in their 20s, were transported to the hospital for medical attention.
He confirmed that the woman is pregnant. “She is pregnant, so we don’t know what is going to happen. What we are waiting for is that when they get to the hospital, they are attended to so that we can see what happens,” he said.
The exact number of vehicles involved and the extent of the injuries sustained by those involved have not yet been formally confirmed by the authorities.
