President notes second interim report of Madlanga Commission
President Cyril Ramaphosa has received fresh recommendations for disciplinary action and criminal probes against senior police figures following the issuing of the second interim report of the Madlanga Commission.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has noted the recommendations and referrals in the second interim report of the judicial commission of inquiry into criminality, political interference, and corruption in the criminal justice system, also known as the Madlanga Commission.
The commission handed the report to the president on May 29, following the first interim report on December 17, 2025.

The final report is due on November 16.
The latest document largely confirms the earlier recommendations concerning the South African Police Service, after the implicated parties gave evidence.
It also adds new recommendations based on testimony heard since the start of 2026.
The commission calls for disciplinary proceedings and immediate criminal investigations, and prosecution if sufficient evidence is found, against Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, Witness G, Sergeant Fannie Nkosi, and Mr Brown Mogotsi.

It further recommends that the office of the inspector general for intelligence or another authorised body urgently investigate an alleged off-the-books crime intelligence operation involving Mogotsi and Witness G.
These referrals will be handled by the SAPS special investigations task team, set up after the first interim report.
