Region E netball structure to be formed
JOBURG - A new netball structure to oversee the revival of the sport in the City of Johannesburg's Region E district will born at a meeting on 16 November.
The grassroots revival of netball is in full swing with a meeting scheduled for 16 November at Wendywood High School.
The purpose of this meeting will be to seek to establish a Greater Alexandra (Region E) netball structure that will be fully representative and inclusive of the whole of Johannesburg’s Region E.
The proposal to organise this regional body follows a meeting held under the auspices of the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation. This meeting was co-chaired by Thando Mhlongo of the Gauteng Sports Council and Dumisani Mqolomba of the sports department. The special general meeting at the school will be facilitated by the Greater Alexandra Sports Council and the Gauteng Sports Council where office bearers of the structure will be elected.
After the formation of the Greater Alexandra structure, the focus will shift to the formation of the Johannesburg structure at a meeting on 30 November. Chairperson of the Greater Alex Sports Council Percy Ndaba urged stakeholders to attend the meeting at Wendywood High School.
