Trampoline bungee to sustain club

ALEXANDRA - A resort entertainment company based in Secunda has donated trampoline bungee to the Alexandra Trampoline Club.

Johan Rosslee, owner of Lake Umuzi, a resort entertainment company based in Secunda, has donated a trampoline bungee to the Alexandra Trampoline Club.

This is in addition to a donation made last year to Alex gymnast Xolani Nxumalo towards his expenses for his participation at the Trampoline World Championships.

Rosslee visited the Thusong Youth Centre in Alexandra where the club practises to handover the trampoline. Club co-ordinator Glenda Schmidt said they would hire out the trampoline to raise funds in a bid to sustain the club.

Unfortunately, Nxumalo did not qualify to compete in the finals of the World Championships. However, Schmidt said Nxumalo gained invaluable experience in the competition and was also exposed to the best trampoline gymnasts in the world. “This will definitely motivate him going forward with his career, knowing what to improve and what is expected of him,” Schmidt added.

Representing South Africa at the championships was not only a dream come true for Nxumalo but will also motivate and give others hope that they too can soar above the stark realities of township life.
