A Dutch deal
ALEXANDRA - Alex football has struck a coaching deal with a Dutch football team that had come for the international leg of the Gauteng Future Champions tournament.
Alex football has struck a coaching deal with a Dutch football team that had played in the international leg of the Gauteng Future Champions tournament.
Secretary general of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Mafika Morajane said the deal involved annual coaching clinics to be conducted in Alexandra each time the Dutch team, Ade Den Haag came to South Africa for the Future Champions tournament.
For the initial coaching clinic held at Alexandra Stadium, coaches from Ade Den Haag requested Alex football to make more than 30 children available for the training.
“We then selected the children from our various clubs aged between 15 and 17 years and made them available for the day-long coaching sessions which were also attended by Ray Whelan of the Gauteng Future Champions tournament,” Morajane said.
Morajane said the Dutch team also donated soccer balls and three sets of full soccer kits to the association.
“We are grateful to Ade Den Haag for the donation and the coaching sessions. Our Alex squads will now have brand new soccer kits whenever they participate in inter-local football association games,” Morajane added.
