League postpones crucial matches for fair play
JOBURG - The Premier Soccer League Executive Committee held its monthly meeting yesterday (24 April) in Johannesburg and decided to postpone some of the crucial matches in the final stages of the league in the interests of fair play.
The Premier Soccer League executive committee held its monthly meeting on 24 April in Johannesburg and decided to postpone some of the crucial matches in the final stages of the league.
Following deliberations, the committee decided that in the interest of promoting the spirit of fair play, as many matches as possible of the second last Absa Premiership block fixtures will be played simultaneously on 6 May, and so will be the last block scheduled for 10 May. The fixtures will kick-off at 7.30pm.
Accordingly, all Absa Premiership fixtures scheduled for this weekend will be postponed with the exception of Orlando Pirates vs Platinum Stars and Free State Stars vs MP Black Aces.
League CEO Brand de Villiers said, “This matter was placed before the committee meeting following correspondence from a number of clubs.” This is done to ensure that no favours are done by some clubs for others at this crucial stage of the competition.
