Axe falls on Alex United coaching staff and players
ALEXANDRA - Alex United chairman Nkani Dube will wield the axe to ring in the changes at United's coaching department and in players alike.

No one will be spared the axe as Dube seeks to rejuvenate the team in the coaching and playing department. “We’re going back to the drawing board and we need to reinforce the coaching department and beef-up on the playing side, as well to ensure we have a team that will withstand all and sundry in the coming season,” Dube said.
He would not elaborate as to who was going and who was staying. “We shall soon unveil our new coaching staff and the new players that will come in to beef-up our ranks in readiness for the ABC Motsepe League.”
Dube was speaking in an exclusive interview with Alex News at the team’s temporary home ground at the Balfour Park Stadium, while the Alexandra Stadium undergoes municipal renovations which are expected to be completed before year-end.
In the interview, Dube said a number of their players had been approached by various teams in the Premier Soccer League and chief among them Mamelodi Sundowns. Although some of the players would eventually leave the club, Dube said the core of the team would still remain.
Dube said United was also looking around for quality players to beef-up the team. He said they wanted to build a formidable team with a winning mentality that would eventually see them promoted to the National First Division and ultimately the Premier Soccer league.
Dube’s ultimate aim is to build a team from Alexandra to compete in the country’s top flight football. He said Alexandra had always produced good players for the premiership teams, but the township did not have its own premiership team as did Soweto with Pirates, Chiefs and Moroka Swallows.
He said he longed for the day when Alexandra took it’s rightful place among the giants of football in the country.
