Eastbank High crashes out of Kay Motsepe tournament

ALEXANDRA - Eastbank High School will fly the Alex flag high at the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup on 2 August at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve.

Eastbank High School crashed out in the group stages of the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve.

The Alex school team was among eight school teams that battled it out in the U19 provincial finals. The winning school, Holy Trinity High School from Tshwane took home R100 000 after being crowned Gauteng provincial champions.

The money will be used to fund projects that will benefit pupils of the school and the surrounding community.

As the winners, Holy Trinity and runners-up, Thaba Jabula Secondary School qualified to play for a whopping R1 million on offer to the ultimate winner that emerges from the national finals taking place at the same stadium between the 6 and 9 October.

The Eastbank High team only managed one win in the group stages against Waterstone College. Holy Trinity beat them 2-0 and Clapham High School thumped them 4-0.

Participating schools included Eastbank High School, Thaba Jabula Secondary School, Kgoroyathuto High School from Sedibeng, Holy Trinity High School, MOM Sebone Secondary School from Gauteng, IR Lesolang High School from Tshwane, Waterstone College, Clapham High School.
