Pirates squad to face Manchester legends
JOBURG - Former Orlando Pirates veteran, Mark Fish will miss the opportunity to return to the field in his former club's jersey to face Manchester legends in a fundraiser for the family of slain Senzo Meyiwa.
Former Orlando Pirates veteran, Mark Fish will miss the opportunity to return to the field in his former club’s jersey to face Manchester legends in a fundraiser for the family of slain Senzo Meyiwa.
The Buccaneers had included Fish in the squad of old hands to face the Manchester legends on 15 November at 6pm at the Ellis Park Stadium.
The dream team of Manchester’s football legends includes Paul Scholes, Lee Sharpe, Louis Saha, Viv Anderson (MBE), Jesper Blomqvist, Ronnie Jonson, Raimond van der Gouw, David May, Quinton Fortune, Lee Martin, Clayton Blackmore, Keith Gillespie, Russell Beardmore and Ben Thornley.
Pirates legends team will be coached by Augusto Palacios and will include the likes of Williams Okpara (captain and goalkeeper), Mark Batchelor, Edward Motale, Teboho Moloi, Bashin Mahlangu, Innocent Chikoya, Ronnie Zondi, Gavin Lane, Steve Lekoelea, Phiri Tsotetsi, Naughty Mokoena, Bruce Ramokadi, Joseph Ngake, Helman Mkhalele, Jerry ‘Legs of Thunder’ Sikhosana, Andries Sebola and Eugene Zwane.
A replacement for Fish, who was rushed to hospital on Monday after suffering from severe chest pains, might have to be found. It is expected that his replacement will be announced at a press conference for the event scheduled for 12 November, where the players for both legend teams will be unveiled.
Manchester legends are expected to begin arriving in the country today. The team is scheduled to arrive in two groups between 11 and 12 November at the OR Tambo International Airport.
