Africa’s football showpiece, the Africa Cup of Nations which begins in Equatorial Guinea on 17 January will be beamed live across the whole of Sub-Saharan Africa on five DStv channels.
All 32 matches will be shown live and with commentary in four language options, English, IsiZulu, Setswana and Portuguese. There will be hard-hitting expert analysis from one of football’s greatest, France international Marcel Desailly. The Ghanaian-born Desailly will be joined by other big names such as Nigeria’s Daniel ‘The Bull’ Amokachi and Bafana’s Neil ‘Mkoko’ Tovey.
Desailly’s expert opinion is highly sought-after by broadcasters around the world given that he has won almost all there is to win as an international player. His honours include the Fifa World Cup and Confederations Cup, the Euro Championship, the Uefa Champions League and Super Cup, and many domestic league and cup titles.
Also part of the team will be charismatic Samuel Kuffour and the straight-talking Benni McCarthy. The analysts will also lend their expert opinion and knowledge to Masterplan, a show which unpacks the matches from a tactical point of view.
Masterplan is one of two weekly magazine shows that will be broadcast on SuperSport, the other being Harambe which will bring viewers even closer to the action through social media interaction.
In studio anchors will be Robert Marawa and Carol Tshabalala, with Yaw Ampofu-Ankrah from Ghana, Franklin Tembo Jnr from Zambia and South Africa’s Sizwe Mabena as the roving reporters in Equatorial Guinea.
