Nkatha is now a Letsatsantsa

JOBURG - Kaizer Chiefs has finally decided to spare Zimbabwean striker Kingston Nkatha the misery of being booed by the club fans.

Kaizer Chiefs has finally decided to spare Zimbabwean striker Kingston Nkatha the misery of being booed by the club fans.

Chiefs and SuperSport United have agreed on the terms for the permanent move of the lethal finisher to Matsatsantsa A Pitori with immediate effect. The player has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with United.

The hard-working forward had played over 60 games for Amakhosi and has netted 17 times. It was this low rate of converting chances that prompted Chiefs’ fans to turn against him despite having scored crucial goals that have kept the team in an unbeaten streak this season.

Fans will have to find someone else to taunt now that Nkatha (29) is now a Letsatsantsa. At some point, Chiefs’ coach Stuart Baxter, who believed in Nkatha’s abilities, had warned that if the booing continued, either him or the striker would consider leaving the club.

Nkatha finally made the decision to quit and his contract with the Glamour Boys has ended. The two clubs came to a mutual agreement allowing Chiefs to release the striker ahead of the end of his contract.

Nkatha joins the Matsatsantsa strike force of Bradley Grobler, Dove Wome and celebrated Bafana Bafana striker Thuso Phala.

United’s CEO, Stanley Matthews, expressed his delight over the transfer. “While we were obviously prepared to wait for Kingston to join us in July, I’m happy we could fast forward the transaction and I would like to thank Kaizer Chiefs for their professionalism in this matter.”

“I look forward to Kingston contributing to the success of our club,” Matthews said while his head coach, Gordon Igesund, said, “I am thrilled to have him now, he’s going to add huge value to the team with his high work rate. He’s a quality player.”
