Black Poison too sharp in ANLFA clash

Despite holiday disruptions, Black Poison delivered three goals to outclass First 11 in their league encounter.

Alex Black Poison U13 side secured a commanding 3-0 victory over First 11 FC in their ANLFA clash at the Altrec Sports Complex on July 5.

Coach George Phalandwa applauded his team’s effort despite holiday disruptions. He said although not all their players were available for the game, his team still managed to outperform their opponents.

Phalandwa admitted the contest was tougher than expected. “We thought the game was going to be easy. But the opponent gave us a tough time. We struggled a lot, especially to score the second goal.”

Both teams were tactically competitive and well-organised, which made the battle increasingly demanding. Still, Black Poison found the breakthrough through goals from Asibonge Masiteng, Limise Mtsondwa and another strike from Masiteng to seal the win.

First 11 coach Johannes Sibande conceded his side’s preparation was lacking.

“I have to also go back to the drawing board to fix some issues, including how we take free kicks and converting chances. That is what caused us to lose the game,” he said.

He noted that missed set-piece opportunities robbed his side of momentum. “The free kicks would have given us a chance to gain momentum to match Black Poison’s intensity. But we couldn’t.”
Despite the defeat, Sibande commended his players’ effort, noting that they did all they could on the field.
