This will be the much anticipated finals of the Ntate Molepo Tournament, which is the inaugural tournament in memory of the late Ntate Philemon Molepo, who was one of the outstanding football administrators to come out of the township.
Ntate Molepo, as he was affectionately known in Alexandra by the football-loving public, died in 2007 and was buried in his home village in Limpopo. He criss-crossed Alexandra on foot in his efforts to monitor and observe the games to ensure their smooth running.
The president of Alex football, Maisha Molepo expressed his association’s gratitude to the community for their support of the inaugural tournament in honour of this ‘great man’ which has just concluded its semi-finals.
In the masters division final, Sundowns will face Asazi Bafana. Sundowns beat Mighty Eagles 8-7 in sudden death penalties after both teams were tied 1-1 in the ninety minute, while Asazi Bafana disposed of Joy 5-0 in regulation time.
In other results, DRA FC from the seniors division beat Gunners 1-0, to book a spot in the finals against Howza De Laz, who also beat Leeds United 1-0. In the U20, Gauteng FC went through to the finals after beating Pamo United 3-1. They will face Alex Kings United, who beat Alex Young Lions 3-2 on penalties after they tied 2-2.
In the U17 division, Alex Junior City booked their spot in the finals after beating TDS FC 2-0. They will be up against Pamo United who thrashed Howza De Laz 5-1. In the U15, Real Madrid are through to the finals after beating Malandela Mighty Heroes 4-3 on penalties after they were tied 2-2 in the ninety minute. Madrid will face Happy Birds in the final, who beat Royal Tigers 4-1.
In the last division, the U13, Real Madrid booked their spot in the final after beating Malandela Mighty Heroes 2-0. Madrid will face Howza De Laz who beat Rangers 4-3 on penalties. They were tied at 2-2.
