Masters honours Ntate Molepo
ALEX - Former footballers and legends of the beautiful game played a wonderful game of football during the Ntate Molepo Tournament which was held at the Alexandra Stadium.
There is nothing more exciting in football than watching players that can provide the crisp passes that can unlock the tightest of defences.
And both Sundowns and Asazi Bafana had such players during their game in the Ntate Molepo Masters final, with the most popular being Maimane Phiri, the former Ajax Cape Town and bafana Bafana play maker.
The game started with a moment of silence in honour of the late John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu, one of the best players this country has ever produced, he was also the former coach of Alexandra United.
The game was very tactical with a few reckless challenges. The referee had to penalise a few players, and the game was stopped for a few minutes after the Sundowns goalkeeper was injured and could no longer continue.
It was a game of two halves, the first 45 minutes saw Sundowns as the more attacking of the two, but they failed to convert their chances. The second saw Asazi Bafana as the more dominant and the game looked set to be another goalless draw.
Thabiso Manyama, the older brother of Lebohang Manyama who currently plays for Supersport United, saved the day as he calmly slotted in a pinpoint pass from the midfield.
Asazi Bafana kept on pushing hard for the equaliser, but Sundowns held their nerve, which saw them being crowned the 2015 Ntate Molepo Masters Champions.
