‘Third force’ wants to destroy Alex football, says Molepo

ALEXANDRA - The re-elected chairperson of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Maisha Molepo has lashed out at the existence of a 'third force' within the association which he said was bent on trying to destroy the gains made so far by Alex football on and off the pitch.

The re-elected chairperson of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Maisha Molepo, has lashed out at the existence of a ‘third force’ within the association which he said was bent on trying to destroy the gains made so far by Alex football on and off the pitch.

He lauded the football fraternity and the community of Alexandra for the confidence they have shown in his leadership of football by re-electing not just himself, but the entire leadership back to their positions.

Molepo spoke in an interview with Alex News soon after his re-election on 27 April in an elective annual general meeting of the association at the Ntate Molepo Building, which houses the offices of the association at the Alexandra Stadium.

He was elected by 18 votes to six for his challenger, Mxolisi Mngomezulu, who is currently the technical director of the association. “I would like to thank all club chairmen for having confidence in me.

“I also would like to thank other people who worked tirelessly to deal with the third force that wanted to see the association going down by taking me out and bringing coaches to run the organisation,” Molepo said, in a veiled reference to his challenger.

To his opponent, Mxolisi Mngomezulu, Molepo urged him to continue with life as usual. “You were 100 percent good as the technical director. You have changed the face of local football because of your technical abilities and the sound advice you always give to our coaches.

“We are very competitive at the highest level of football in Safa [South African Football Association] structures where the standard is high and that’s all because of you. I wish you the best in life,” Molepo said.

He urged the community of Alex to work hand in hand with the association “so that together we can become the greatest in football development in the country. I promised the President of Safa Dr Danny Jordan when we launched the Ground One project that we will develop our players to represent us in the national teams.

“I therefore call on all of you football-loving people of Alexandra to join me and my entire executive in making this dream become a reality,” Molepo said at the conclusion of the interview.
