WATCH: Gauteng FC reigns supreme again
JOBURG - Gauteng FC has once again shown why they are one of the most feared teams in the U20 division of Alex football after they were crowned champions of the Maimane Alfred Phiri (Map) Games for the second year in a row.

Gauteng FC beat Limpopo team, Baroka 1-0 in the final at the No 3 Square Grounds. Both teams started slowly, trying to settle their nerves.
Five minutes into the game, Gauteng had their first scoring opportunity through a free kick on the edge of the box, but the nimble-footed Gift Gayiyane blazed the ball over the bar.
A few minutes before half time, Gayiyane produced a great cross from the left, but Sanele Zulu failed to reach the ball, and the game went into the halftime break goalless.
Gauteng came out guns blazing in the second half as they looked to break the deadlock with Antony Magomarela going past two defenders to unleash a thunderous shot, but it went wide of the post.
Baroka created plenty scoring opportunities but failed to utilise them. In the 65th minute, Gauteng’s Daniel Sibanda received a yellow card as Baroka tried to catch their opponents on the counter.
The game looked set to go into penalties until Gayiyane tapped the ball into the net on the far post after a great cross from the left side.
Gauteng FC coach Sihle Ngcobo was delighted with his boys’ performance. “I feel great, the boys have done well from the last 16,” he said.
“We have now won it for the second time in a row.”
Lesedi Mapheto of sponsors Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa said, “Firstly, we would like to congratulate Gauteng FC for winning the tournament, and as the proud sponsors of these games, we would like to congratulate Maimane Phiri’s initiatives as well.”
