SuperSport releases Letsoaka to coach Arrows
JOBURG - SuperSport United have released their assistant coach Serame Letsoaka from his contract to take up the position as head coach at Golden Arrows.
SuperSport United has released their assistant coach Serame Letsoaka from his contract to take up the position as head coach at the Absa Premiership side Golden Arrows.
Letsoaka, who joined Matsatsantsa in September last year as Gordon Igesund’s assistant, has expressed his desire to expand his horizons by taking the opportunity presented to him by Arrows.
SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews said, “We wish Serame all the best in his new position. We are very pleased that a coach from our stable, even though he was been with us for such a short time, has been given the opportunity to become a head coach.
“We would have preferred Gordon and him to continue on what they started last season, by winning the Telkom Knockout and building on that this coming season, but we would not have wanted to stand in his way despite him still being contractually bound to us for another season, with further options of renewal,” Matthews said.
He said SuperSport had demonstrated before with other coaches such as Pitso Mosimane and the late Thomas Madigage (both of whom were released to join Bafana Bafana as assistant coaches) that the club would not stand in the way of staff members who wanted to seek out new challenges.
“We wish him well at Golden Arrows and have already commenced the process of replacing him,” Matthews added. Letsoaka replaces Shaun Bartlett who managed to gain promotion for Arrows from the National First Division to the Premier Division.
