Alexandra cricketers took part in the Gauteng leg of the KFC Mini Cricket Festival at St David’s Marist Inanda school. The Alex children, under the guidance of their coach Jason Masangwanyi, came from Skeen, McWeiler, Dr Knak and Gordon primary schools.

The cricket festival saw more than 1 100 children from around Gauteng participate. The programme has been lauded for its development of young cricketers, with over 80 percent of the current South Africa Cricket team having gone through the Mini Cricket programme.

The captain of the Bizhub Highveld Lions, Stephen Cook, also went through Mini Cricket during his early years, and encouraged the aspiring cricketers at the festival to live a healthy lifestyle and to work hard to achieve their dreams.

Also present were three current U19 South African players, Liam Smith, Brandon Glover and Conor McKerr who offered their cricket expertise.
