Tsotetsi calls out AMSL members for destructive criticism
ALEXANDRA – The chairperson of the Alex Masters Soccer League (AMSL), Tshidiso Arthur Tsotetsi, has chastised his members for what he described as 'destructive criticism'.
The chairperson of the Alex Masters Soccer League (AMSL), Tshidiso Arthur Tsotetsi, has chastised his members for what he described as ‘destructive criticism’.
Tsotetsi, who heads the football body made up of legends, was speaking at a ceremony to honour one of their loyal and longest serving secretaries general, Jeff Thinane, who is affectionately known in football circles as Bro Jeff.
Tsotetsi said his friends had tried to lure him away from football to golf but, “I blatantly told them that I’m a footballer for life.”
Tsotetsi also noted that officials in football ‘now come and go because we tend to criticise and kick them out’ and said that was not a good omen for the way forward in developing the beautiful game in the township.
”The constant kicking out of officials means that we shall never have other Bro Jeffs in future. I am not saying we should not criticise but let’s criticise constructively. In other words, let’s criticise to build an individual but not destroy him.
“We have a platform to raise our concerns and let’s raise them there and not in the taxis, and under the trees, in taverns and anywhere else other than in the association,” Tsotetsi said.
He pointed out that if criticism was not well managed and geared toward the building rather than the destruction of an individual, they will end up with no one willing to work for and lead the organisation.
