JOBURG – Alex coach praises SAB skills camp for development coaches.
Alex coach, Bonginkosi ‘Ndishi’ Fakude of Alex Junior City FC has heaped praises on the ongoing SAB League Skills Camp taking place at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
Speaking in an interview with Alex News at the centre, Fakude who was nominated to attend the course by his hometown team Vlam PB FC in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal which plies its trade in the SAB League, described the course ‘as one of the best things that have happened in my coaching career’.
“I can truly say I am blessed and honoured to have participated in the coaching course, which may see me leave with a Confederation of African Football (Caf) C Licence,” he said.
“With this licence, I can coach teams not only in our LFAs [local football association] league but clubs up the rungs, including those in the SAB League, the ABC Motsepe League and those in the National First Division.”
Praising the course content and the high coaching skills possessed by the instructors, Fakude said he was looking forward to leaving the camp with a bag full of skills, knowledge and latest tactics of the beautiful game that make one a great coach.
“I will take this knowledge back to my home team as well as my Alex club. I am sure this will be invaluable knowledge that I will pass on to those I mentor in Alexandra and Newcastle,” Fakude said.
Fakude’s Alex team campaigns in the SA Football Association’s (Safa) Promotional League, which is four leagues below the National First Division League which is a precursor to the prestigious Premier Soccer League.
Fakude is one of 52 coaches from Safa’s 52 SAB League regions currently undergoing the coaching course. They received support from SA U20 national team coach, Thabo Senong, who also praised the coaching camp.
