A lot to play for in prestigious Alex women’s tourney
ALEXANDRA – The stakes are high in the JM Busha Women's Tournament which kicks off on 18 March.
More than just prize money will be at stake when 10 teams from around the country and two from outside the borders take on each other in Alexandra’s prestigious JM Busha Women’s Tournament on 18 and 19 March.
Champions of the tournament stand to take home R10 000 in cash and R12 500 in investment returns from the Dunkeld-based JM Busha Investment Group; while runners-up will win R8 000; and all the other teams will receive R5 000 each for participation.
This was disclosed by tournament organisers, Andile ‘Size One’ Shawe and Abraham Ramoshaba, both from the host club, Bluebirds Ladies, who were speaking exclusively to Alex News ahead of the tournament at the Altrek Sports Complex and Alexandra Stadium.
Shawe said there would be individual awards to recognise exceptional players on the field and a fair play team award of the tournament.
Individual awards for players will consist of the top goal scorer, player of the tournament, defender of the tournament, goalkeeper of the tournament and midfielder of the tournament, all of whom will receive a trophy to keep.
The tournament launch will be held on 11 March at the Altrec Hall from 1pm, and the coach and captain of each team will be present.
