A Rosebank company has come to the aid of an Alex football team with a donation of soccer kit which includes jerseys, boots, socks and track suits.
Nick Southon of Digilogix said the kit donation was over and above his company’s sponsorship of the Love Reaching Community Football Club, which is part of the Love Reaching Community church in Alex.
The chairperson of the LRC FC, Jacob Setshedi, sponsor Digilogix’s Nick Southon and assistant coach, Velly Lekanyane with the kitted out boys.
Southon said his company also sponsored the salary of the club’s coach, Bandile Thindleni.
“This is our contribution to Alexandra to ensure that children are taken off the streets and away from mischief, to playing the game they love the most, which is football,” said Southon.

“It is critical for us as a company to help those of our neighbours who are less fortunate than us, and that help can never be better than ensuring that children, whom we consider as our future leaders, are properly taken care of.”
Southon added that the donation of the kit was to create a sense of pride in the team and so that parents and the community could easily identify the players of the team and associate it with the club.

Thindleni added, “It is often said that sport, in general, was a uniting factor in the country’s quest for social cohesion between races. So, as a football club, we believe we can use the beautiful game as a catalyst. not just for unifying the nation. but also worshiping God.”
