Makoya Stars are booted and ready to go
ALEXANDRA – Makoya Stars U11s ready to soar to the pinnacle.

Makoya Stars Football Club vowed to soar to the pinnacle of this year’s U11 league of the Alex Northrand Local Footfall Association.
This after an unexpected donation of football boots and jerseys by non-profit organisation Blessed Is The Hand That Gives. The donation was also extended to fellow competitors, the Alex Gospel Church Club.

Makoya’s coach Makoya Khumalo could not believe his eyes as the kit was taken out of boxes and plastic bags. “I am touched and happy for the boys who risked falling out of the league as they can’t afford proper boots required for team use in official matches. “They sometimes borrowed [boots], often without success from others, or tried using tackies which are disallowed on official pitches and in games,” Khumalo said.

He added that the donation would raise their game and hopefully propel them beyond their current fourth position in the league. The organisation’s Philemon Matume, an ardent football lover, commended well-wisher Wilna Lamb who donated the kit.

“It’s a duty to use charitable means to help where we can, particularly for kids who are the future,” said Matume, as players of the church team sifted through and chose their own multicoloured boots while awaiting the arrival of their coach.
