Keegan dances his way to victory

ALEXANDRA – Crèche kid tops at Schwarzenneger festival.


The annual Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival is seemingly entrenching in South Africa and earthing continental champions.

The recent 2019 addition of the festival started 30 years ago by Schwarzenegger, former global bodybuilding champ, actor, politician and once governor of California, who did just that for athletes also from Alex. At a media briefing, an upbeat Schwarzenegger commended the competitors and committed to attend every addition of the event planned for the long term.

As the nearest township to the event venue at Sandton Convention Centre, Alex scored its fair share of victories in some of the over 60 multi-sporting codes which were up for grabs. Not to be outdone by the older counterparts from Ikasi Gym, five-year-old Keegan Masite also walked away fulfilled from his dancing prowess which earned him a medal.

Still at Thabong Crèche and barely able to string a sentence together, his medal added to the haul by counterparts, Zolani Jojo and Mdumiseni Maqoma, who notched the runners-up medals in the Mr Fitness talent-search category. Keegan displayed his treasured win on a tiny neck with sinewy outstretched arms in affirmation of his achievement. This with his granny Nkepile Masite smiling in appreciation to a future dancing king or bodybuilding champion in the making.
