Alex Black Poison continues winning tradition against Western Boys FC
From the opening whistle, Black Poison dictated play, piling on goals to seal a 9–0 victory.
Alex Black Poison FC’s U15 league fixture against Western Boys FC followed a familiar pattern, with the Alex-based side once again proving too strong in the ANLFA League contest.
The two teams clashed at Altrec Sports Complex on May 30, with the visiting Western Boys hoping to redeem themselves after last season’s 12–0 defeat to Black Poison. However, within the first 10 minutes, the Alex boys had already injected their lethal poison into Western Boys, opening the scoring to set the tone for a difficult morning.

Defending midfielder Alec Mailula struck first, and just minutes later, left back Nkosingiphile Nkosi added another in the 13th minute. Still reeling from two quick blows, Western Boys conceded again in the 15th minute, giving Black Poison a 3–0 lead.
At that point, the visitors’ fate seemed sealed. Yet, they fought on, showing composure with the ball despite struggling to find the net. Thabang Mashotha came closest, rattling the crossbar with a powerful shot that crushed hopes of narrowing the gap.
Black Poison, meanwhile, moved the ball with ease. Mailula struck again in the 20th minute, extending the lead to 4–0. By halftime, Western Boys were trailing by four, and the question was not whether they could recover, but how many more goals Black Poison would score.
In the second half, Bandile Khumalo netted the fifth goal within 15 minutes. He added another about ten minutes later and completed his hat trick in the dying minutes.

Shortly after, Mbuso Hadebe joined the scoresheet, making it 8–0. The victory was sealed when Makhothi Thandanani scored the final goal, closing the game at 9–0.
Coach Phathutshedzo Maseko, of Black Poison, said the team came into the game expecting such a scoreline. “In the first games of the league, we were creating chances but not scoring. That’s why we went back to the gym and focused more on finishing.”
Western Boys coach Mvelo Mthethwa, however, took solace in the fact that his side had conceded fewer goals than last season. Despite the 9–0 loss, he noted he was content that his side did exactly as they had hoped.
