Final call to replace Sassa gold card before August 31
Social grant beneficiaries still using the old gold cards have only a few days left to migrate to Postbank black cards free of charge.
Government is urging all social grant beneficiaries still using South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) gold cards to migrate to Postbank black cards before August 31, to avoid any interruption in payments. The switch is free and requires only a valid ID or temporary ID.
It can be done at Postbank sites inside selected retailers including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar. Postbank has increased capacity at these sites to help beneficiaries during the final days of the process.

Most replacement points will remain open for a short period after the deadline, but people are strongly encouraged to complete the migration before August 31.
Government has reassured beneficiaries that grant payments will continue without interruption once the gold card has been replaced.
Anyone needing to find the nearest site can dial 120355# from any cellphone or call Postbank on 0800 5354 55.
