Sassa confirms September grant payment dates

Beneficiaries are urged to note the staggered payment schedule to avoid unnecessary trips to pay points and long queues.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has officially announced the social grant payment dates for September. As is standard practice, payments will be staggered over several days to ensure the smooth and safe distribution of grants to millions of South Africans, while minimising congestion at retailers, banks and cash pay points.

Older persons will receive their grants on September 2. Disability grant recipients are scheduled to be paid on September 3, while the child support grant, foster child grant and other children’s grants will be paid on September 4. A fourth payment day has been set for September 7 for beneficiaries flagged for grant reviews or elife certification.

Sassa has reminded all recipients to collect their money on the designated dates for their specific grant type rather than arriving earlier, which can lead to avoidable delays and frustration at outlets. The agency continues to encourage orderly collection to keep the process running efficiently for everyone in the community.

Beneficiaries should always have their Sassa cards and valid identification documents ready when collecting payments. It is also advisable to check account balances discreetly and to report any suspicious activity or card problems immediately. For the latest updates, or any changes to the schedule, community members are advised to visit their local Sassa office or check the official Sassa website and social media channels.
