More support for mental health added – SADAG

SADAG introduces more support groups for those in need of mental health support.

The South Africa Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) is adding more online support groups as it recognises the growing need for accessible mental health support.

The organisation is launching three new free online mental health support groups.

According to the organisation’s Jane Mashava, the groups will provide a lifeline of support and connection for people navigating different mental health difficulties.

She said the groups will cater to different people from all walks of life, ensuring everyone has access to support.

The first of the three is the young adult group for the LGBTQIA+ community (18-35 years old), launching on April 10.

The group will meet twice a week using Zoom between 19:00 and 20:30.

Heading up this group will be Nicoleen who is contactable on 084 270 5667.

Also launching on April 10 is the young adult support group for grief, depression and anxiety for people between the ages of 18 and 35.

This group will meet twice a month at 19:00.

The third group is for those suffering from panic and depression launching on April 17 from 19:00 to 20:00 using Zoom.

Amber-Leigh Schoeman, SADAG support group coordinator shared, “There is a transformative power that can be found in community, empathy, and connection. Our new support groups offer a haven, a place to share, and a journey towards healing together.
