Jeppe boys make SA schools team
Last year, Jeppe failed to complete a hat-trick of wins when they could only secure a draw against KES.
Jeppe High School for Boys continues to make its name in the schoolboy rugby history books.
Two of Jeppe’s rugby stars have been included into the South African schools rugby team and the rugby sevens squad.
Grade 11 pupils, Wandisile Simelane and Hacjiva Dyamani, were recently selected for the South African schools rugby team.
Both players were also selected for the rugby sevens squad, which will compete in the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
The news that both boys were selected for the SA schools team caused great excitement.
The last Jeppe boy to be selected for the SA schools team was 1995 Rugby World Cup Champion James Dalton.
Jeppe coach Janse van der Ryst is proud of both players.
“To have two boys selected in one year for the SA schools rugby team is a huge achievement for the school. Their hard work has paid off and we proud of them,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Jeppe first team was training hard for one of SA’s biggest schoolboy rugby matches, the Jeppe versus KES derby.
The match took place on Saturday, at KES, on August 8.
Last year, Jeppe failed to complete a hat-trick of wins when they could only secure a draw against KES.
KES last experienced victory against Jeppe in 2011, and those grade 8 pupils are now in matric and are hungry for success.
The result was unknown at the time of going to print.
