Participants grapple with new tournament

The Nova Academy in Edenvale had a grappling tournament on October 24.

The tournament saw participants from different clubs around Gauteng taking part.

“The tournament started in March. This is the fourth one and we are growing. We are planning to rotate it around Gauteng.

“I have been doing grappling for 14 years. I was inspired to start the tournament because there are many clubs that want to compete but do not have the platform to do that,” said the founder of the grappling tournament, Jurger Putter.

The tournament featured different age groups and Jurger said the sport is a self defence sport which teaches discipline.
