Man plunges car into culvert in Bez Park
A man plunged his car into a culvert in Observatory Avenue in Bez Valley.

The incident occurred on July 14, when he was driving to Norwood to meet up with his friends.
Mr Moeketsi Phoheli, who resides in Bez Valley, said he lost control of the car and found himself in the culvert.
“I blacked out and when I woke up, all I could feel was the water on my legs,” said Mr Phoheli. He says he is glad the incident occurred after he had dropped off his daughter at a relative’s house.
The EXPRESS got a call about the car in the culvert on Tuesday and went to investigate.
The garden workers at Bez Park said the car had been there since Saturday and they had reported it to the police. The EXPRESS contacted Jeppe SAPS and officers later arrived at the scene.
When Mr Phoheli noticed the officers at the scene, he approached them and admitted he owned the car.
“I’m not sure how it happened, but it happened so quickly,” explained Mr Phoheli.
He claimed he had not been drinking at the time and said it was just a “freak accident”.
“I will speak to whoever is in charge of the park and make arrangements to fix the fence I damaged,” said Mr Phoheli.
He had bruises and cuts on his face.
“I was dazed and confused and the only person I could think of was my wife at home,” said Mr Phoheli. He walked home and had his bruises treated after struggling to get out of the vehicle.
