Sector three CPF meets to discuss sex workers

The sector three Community Police Forum met at the Observatory Golf Course on July 18 to discuss the prevalence of sex workers in the area.

Sex workers can be spotted during the day at Innes, Frances and Steyn streets. The meeting was chaired by sector three chairperson, Mr Keith Peacock.

Residents expressed their unhappiness with the manner in which the sex workers are conducting their activities. Reports of sex workers entertaining their clients in front of people’s homes was a huge concern.

The most concerning was the sex workers who stand in the street during the day, where schoolchildren could see them on the streets. Residents said they noticed that there are new faces who ply their trade on the streets of Observatory and that they are moving their trade from Bez Valley into the area.

“The10 Plus campaign should be dealing with such incidents, there is a need for more visibility,” said Mr Keith Peacock.

The need to identify brothels and pimps was discussed and some regular faces on the streets were identified.
