Security guard shot

A security guard was shot during a robbery at a hotel in Bruma on Monday last week.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a man and his friend left the OR Tambo airport to go to the hotel where they were booked in.

They drove into the premises and parked the car. While offloading their luggage, three men approached them. One of the suspects had a firearm.

The suspects demanded all the men’s belongings.

They took bags, clothes, cash, cellular phones and passports.

The men tried to exit the building in their vehicle.

They told the security guard to open the boom gate and he refused.

The guard was shot in the thigh and the gate was forced open. The men fled the scene.

The security guard was rushed to hospital and a case of armed robbery and attempted murder was opened by the Cleveland SAPS.
