Christmas Charity Drive 2013 launched
The annual Christmas Charity Drive was launched on August 1.
This year, November 29 will see the 19th running of Edenvale’s biggest charity event hosted by Mamba Strike Force.
What started in 1994 with 15 cars visiting five schools has turned into over 100 cars visiting 40 schools and entertaining around 15 000 children.
At each stop the children receive donated sweets and other goodies.
More recently, initiatives such as the food mountain have increased the benefit of this event to the charities in the area.
The beneficiaries of the charity drive struggle on an on-going basis to provide care for those less fortunate.
Mamba has also introduced five ways in which individuals and businesses can contribute towards the charity drive.
The three main beneficiaries of the Christmas Charity Drive are the Edenvale Care Centre Hospice, Little Eden and Hospice East Rand.
