Little did he realise that it was police imposters who then proceeded to hijack him.
Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said on July 30, the man and his co-worker were driving on the N12 West after the Kraft Road off ramp when a white Polo Vivo with a blue light ordered him to stop on July 30.
“A VW Polo, with three occupants in it, flashed blue lights and it’s driver ordered the driver of the truck to pull over. One of the men in the Polo ordered the driver of the truck to bring his driver’s licence to him. When he arrived with his licence, one of the occupants in the Polo drew a firearm and informed the man that he was being hijacked. One of the men asked him what was in the truck. They then forced the truck driver into the Polo and told him to sleep on the back seat,” said Sgt Nhlabathis.
He added that one of the men also forced the truck driver’s colleague into the back of the Polo.
“They were both made to lie on top of each other while the vehicles were driving around. The truck driver and his colleague were put into a bakkie. This occupants of this vehicle then drove around with the men for some time before dropping the men beside an open field in Crystal Park,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.
Tables and chemicals worth about R100 000 were stolen.
