Business backs safety in CBD

In an attempt to curb motor vehicle theft in Edenvale's CBD, one business has teamed up with authorities to ensure visitors' safety.

Chamdor Faktry Sales recently opened its secure parking area to customers of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) after a large number of vehicles were reported stolen from outside the offices.

The parking will be open to SARS customers for the duration of the tax season.

Edenvale City Improvement District (ECID) managers, Mrs Linda McKenzie and Mrs Sheryl Damerell, along with members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), recently met with the owners of the store.

According to Mrs McKenzie, Chamdor owners said they would not have a problem with SARS clients parking in their secure parking area.

In a letter to Mrs McKenzie, the owners confirm that security has, for some time now, accommodated SARS clients.

The parking area outside Chamdor was secured after 12 armed robbers stormed the store two years ago.

A staff member was injured during the robbery when shots were fired.

“The owners of Chamdor take safety seriously and we thank them for getting on board with us,” Mrs McKenzie said.
