A motorist is facing charges of culpable homicide and driving while under the influence of alcohol after the accident he was involved in claimed the life of a 33-year-old man.
The accident took place on Aitken Road during the early hours of Sunday morning last week.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said officers arrested the man on the scene after it was found that he was intoxicated.
“Our condolences go out to the family of the man killed in this accident,” he said.
He urged motorists to not drive while under the influence of alcohol.
The man appeared in the Germiston Regional Court on Monday, where the case against him was postponed for further investigation.
