Police request community’s help

Police are still searching for the men involved in a robbery at a butchery in Fairvew on April 12.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said the owner of the butchery in Commissioner Street, was in his office when he saw a man who was there the day before.

The man had placed an order for his child’s birthday party, so the owner opened the door for the man.

“When he opened the door, the suspect and five other men entered the business. They pointed firearms at the owner while one man stayed outside. The owner was forced into his office,” said W/O Munyai.

The men asked him where the computer for the surveillance camera was and he showed them. The thieves switched the camera off and asked the owner where he kept the money.

“The victim told the thieves he did not keep money in the office. He told them the only money he had was the money on the table. They men took the money, other valuables and fled,” said W/O Munyai.

Anyone who can identify the suspects can contact the investigating officer, Constable Mashala, on 078 214 7421.
